SmartWings, the Czech LCC has launched flights between Prague (PRG) and Tel Aviv (TLV) in Israel. The service operates four times weekly until the end of February when frequency increases to six weekly flights. The route is operated with 189-seat 737-800 aircraft. The route is already served by CSA Czech Airlines and El Al. “SmartWings is the first discount airline to operate scheduled flights to Israel. That will mean more options for travellers flying from Prague Airport,” said Stanislav Zeman, Prague Airport’s executive director aviation business and marketing. Czech Airlines operates six weekly flights with A319s, while El Al also operates a couple of weekly flights with 737-800s. Most of SmartWings’ network only operates during the summer, but year-round services from Prague include Dubai, Paris, and Rome as well as Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur.
