Aer Lingus adds Gran Canaria from Cork; resumed winter flights to Barcelona and Rome lift network to 24 destinations
- Aer Lingus has launched a new weekly (Sunday) scheduled service between Cork (ORK) and Gran Canaria (LPA) in the Canary Islands. Departing at 07:00 from Cork, the service is currently available until 29 April 2012. The airline has also re-introduced winter flights to Barcelona and Rome, thus increasing the number of destinations served by Aer Lingus non-stop from Cork this winter to 17. Including seasonal routes the Irish flag-carrier now serves 24 destinations from Cork, including eight destinations in the UK, most of which are operated on its behalf by AerArann under the Aer Lingus Regional brand. During this year’s summer months (May to September) passenger numbers at Cork airport have been up 0.6%.
