It would escape nobody that there was a Las Vegas theme on in London, Ontario as the airport got a new service to Sin City on WestJet. Showgirls, Elvis and gambling – all of the trademarks of Vegas were represented.
- WestJet continues to offer new low-frequency services from smaller Canadian airports to US leisure destinations. The start of the winter season sees a new weekly service from Kelowna (YLW) to Phoenix, AZ (PHX) in Arizona to complement the carrier’s existing twice-weekly service to Las Vegas in Nevada. In 2010, Kelowna Airport in British Columbia handled almost 1.4 million passengers, making it one of Canada’s top 12 airports. Another new route launched by WestJet this week was between London (YXU) in Ontario and Las Vegas, NV (LAS). The route operates weekly and is the airline’s fourth route from the Canadian airport after domestic routes to Calgary and Winnipeg, and a weekly service to Orlando in Florida. A fifth route to Cancun in Mexico launches later this week and will be covered in next week’s anna.aero.
