Avianca relaunches route between Bogota and Rio de Janeiro
Avianca, the Colombian flag carrier merged with Central American TACA, expanded its South American network on 4 November when the airline relaunched services from its Bogotà (BOG) hub to Rio de Janeiro (GIG). This is the airline’s second route to Brazil after twice-daily flights to São Paulo. Flights on the new 4,500-kilometre route are operated three times weekly with A330-200 aircraft. The last time the route was served was in 1999, then also by Avianca.
