Vueling adds Copenhagen to network (but from Madrid)

  • Vueling last week took over operating three of Iberia’s seven weekly flights between Madrid (MAD) and Copenhagen (CPH). Iberia now operates four weekly flights on the route and is joined by Spanair operating daily flights and SAS a further four weekly flights. At the beginning of the winter season, Vueling’s Madrid network comprises just five non-stop routes; Amsterdam (daily flights), Barcelona (11 daily flights), Berlin Tegel (daily flights), Copenhagen and Paris CDG (daily flights). With part-owner Iberia having announced plans to launch its own low-cost subsidiary (Iberia Express) from Madrid next summer with four A320s sourced from Iberia, it is not yet clear what Vueling’s future plans for the airport are. However, the carrier has already announced that it will start serving Copenhagen with four weekly flights from its Barcelona base next summer.
