Alaska Airlines launches second Hawaii route from San Diego

Hawaiian dancing and singing at San Diego for Alaska Air’s inaugural flight to Honolulu. San Diego Airport’s Air Service Director Hampton Brown presented leis – Hawaiian flower necklaces – to Alaska Airlines’ Jeff Etherington, General Manager Sales and Community Marketing, and Mark Bocchi, Managing Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Alaska Airlines launched daily flights between San Diego (SAN) in California and Honolulu (HNL) on the island of Oahu, in Hawaii. “With its beautiful beaches, historic sites and endless sunshine, Honolulu is a great complement to our existing San Diego-Maui nonstop service,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ VP Marketing. Flights depart San Diego at 09:15 every day, and arrive in Honolulu at 13:15 local time. Return flights depart Hawaii at 15:40 and arrive in California at 23:15. The daily 737-800 service (with 16 seats in first class and 141 in the main cabin) will compete directly with Hawaiian Airlines, which also operates a daily service.
