firefly, the regional subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, has started two new routes this week. Twice-weekly (on Mondays and Fridays), an ATR 72-500 is operating from Kuala Lumpur Subang (SZB) to Malacca (MKZ) and then on to Medan (MES) in Indonesia. Malacca Airport and Subang are only just over 100 kilometres apart and the airline’s timetable indicates that 45 minutes have been allowed for the flights. Actual flying time is likely to be considerably less. Turnround times in Malacca and Medan are scheduled for just 20 minutes.
