Route of the Week:
JetBlue’s San Juan to St Maarten
JetBlue’s latest service is welcomed to St. Maarten – the carrier’s eighth non-stop destination from San Juan. The route was celebrated by Marc Boasman, JetBlue’s GM St Maarten; Richard Gibson Jr., attorney; Deputy Prime Minister Theodore Heyliger; and Regina LaBega, Princess Juliana International Airport’s Managing Director. St Maarten Tourist Bureau’s Tourism Director May-Ling Chun presented welcome gifts to JetBlue’s crew members.
At the arrival in Liberia, Costa Rica, JetBlue’s plane got duly washed and Costa Rica’s tourism minister Allan Flores cut the ribbon…but what is blue and white and flies all over?
- JetBlue has added two more international destinations from its main base at New York JFK (JFK) to La Romana (LRM) in the Dominican Republic, and Liberia (LIR) in Costa Rica. Both routes will be operated by A320s; La Romana with two weekly flights and Liberia with four weekly flights. Last week also saw the first international service from Westchester County Airport (HPN) in New York State to Nassau (NAS) in the Bahamas, operated daily using an Embraer E190. Finally, the airline has also added daily flights between San Juan (SJU) in Puerto Rico and St. Maarten (SXM), also operated by an E190. JetBlue’s Director Schedule Planning Dave Clark commented: “We’re growing throughout the Caribbean and throughout Central and South America. It’s an area that has a lot of growth opportunities that are a really good fit with the JetBlue product and award-winning customer service. It’s very important for us.”
