Copa Airlines launches four new routes from Panama to the US, Mexico, Paraguay and Colombia
- Copa Airlines has launched four new routes out of its Panama City (PTY) hub. Ahead of the airline joining Star Alliance in April next year, the Panamanian airline now operates daily to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), the hub of its new US partner airline United. Each four weekly flights are now also operated to Monterrey (MTY) in northern Mexico, Asuncion (ASU), the capital of Paraguay, and Cucuta (CUC) in the northeast of Colombia, on the border to Venezuela. The four routes are operated with 124-seat 737-700s with the exception of the 770-kilometre Cucuta route, which is served with 94-seat E-190s. The only route that has been operated in the past is the route between Asuncion and Panama City, which Transport Aereos Mercosur operated in 1987.
