Southwest Airlines launches new routes to Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Denver
- Southwest Airlines launched three new domestic routes on 7 January, each operating daily with the airline’s 137-seat 737-700s. The route launches are an effect of the first jointly coordinated schedule between Southwest and AirTran. Two of the routes are to sunny Florida, while Colorado’s ski resorts get an additional connection with the third route. The airline now operates its seventh service to Fort Myers, FL (RSW), originating at the airline’s base in Nashville, TN (BNA). Southwest also started services connecting Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) with Manchester, NH (MHT) as well as Denver, CO (DEN) with Providence, RI (PVD). There is no direct competition on any of the routes.
