At Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, Allegiant’s new Orlando Sanford route was welcomed with donuts with brightly coloured icing. Passengers departing for sunny Florida were able to dress up in a ‘photo area’ to remember the event.
- Allegiant Air launched four routes out of its Orlando Sanford, FL (SFB) base, which is analysed in this week’s issue, with its MD80 aircraft in the last week; two of which are to new destinations to the airline. The each two weekly flights to Chicago Gary, IN (GYY) and Salisbury-Ocean City, MD (SBY) launched on 15 and 16 February respectively. In the case of Chicago Gary, which recently had its runway extended, the route is even the only scheduled commercial service at the airport. On 15 February, the low-cost airline also launched four weekly flights to Niagara Falls, NY (IAG) and two days later, a twice-weekly service to Moline, IL (MLI).
