bmibaby adds three ‘summer-sun’ routes from Belfast City

  • While the longer-term future of bmibaby is still being discussed behind closed doors, the airline celebrated its 10th birthday on 20 March, making it one of the oldest European LCCs still operating with the same name. The new summer season sees the airline expanding its network from Belfast City (BHD), one of its three current bases (the others are Birmingham and East Midlands, after it pulled out of Cardiff and Manchester). The new routes are all ‘summer sun’ destinations in the Mediterranean; Alicante (ALC), Faro (FAO) and Malaga (AGP). All three will be served with between two and three weekly flights. Although no other carrier operates these routes from Belfast City, both Aer Lingus and easyJet serve all three destinations from Belfast International, with Jet2.com also in the mix on Alicante and Faro.
