Solomon Airlines launches flights to Nadi and Port Moresby from Honiara

  • With the start of the summer season, Solomon Airlines launched two new routes from its base at Honiara (HIR), connecting the city to Nadi (NAN) and Port Moresby (POM), capitals of neighbouring Fiji and Papua New Guinea, respectively. While Nadi is offered with thrice-weekly frequencies, flights for Port Moresby leave once a week. Both destinations will be served by Solomon Airlines’ fleet of A320s. In the Nadi market, the airline will face direct competition from Papua’s Air Niugini, which flies the route thrice-weekly, as well as indirectly from Fiji’s Air Pacific, which offers a weekly flight via Port Vila in Vanuatu. Air Niugini will also be the only competitor on the Port Moresby routing, where it offers direct flights with thrice-weekly frequencies.
