US Airways launches new routes from Washington National Airport

Welcoming the first enthused passengers arriving at Pensacola International Airport on the new US Airways service from Washington National Airport were Howard Kass, US Airways’ VP Legal and Government Affairs; Laura Coleman, US Airways’ PSN Station Manager; Melinda Crawford, Director Pensacola International Airport; John Asmar, Chief of Staff, the City of Pensacola; Donnie McMahon, Director McMahon & Hadder Insurance; and Bill Reynolds, City Administrator for the City of Pensacola, accompanied by the red-suited Pensacola Bay Area Chamber Ambassadors.

  • US Airways launched 13 new routes on 25 March; all with regional aircraft and all but one domestic (the exception being Ottawa in Canada). Two of the routes are from the Star Alliance airline’s Charlotte, NC (CLT) hub, while the remaining 11 routes are part of the airline’s expansion at Washington National, DC (DCA), which is the result of a slot swap with Delta Air Lines that in return expanded at New York LaGuardia in the last week. Omaha, NE (OMA) notably received new routes from both US Airways bases.
