Cutting the ribbon (and the cake) in celebration of the new Aegean route to Brussels were Eleni Skarveli, Director of Greek Tourism Office in Belgium; Aegean’s Tassos Raftopoulos, Director Planning & Alliances; and Brussels Airport’s Léon Verhallen, Head of Aviation Marketing.
- On 28 March, Aegean Airlines further expanded its international network from Heraklion (HER) in the eastern part of the island of Crete. Unlike the second Greek carrier, Olympic Air, which has abandoned all Western-European markets, Aegean now offers each twice-weekly flights from the airport to both Brussels (BRU) and Munich (MUC). Both services are operated with A320s. Aegean will face competition from Condor in the Munich market with its also twice-weekly services. Other international routes operated by Aegean from Heraklion include Paris CDG and Moscow Domodedovo.
