Volaris launches two new Cancun services

Mexico’s second-largest airline Volaris celebrated its sixth anniversary this month by adding new routes to the Caribbean resort of Cancún. The start of services from Aguascalientes in central Mexico was marked with a water cannon salute and air balloons.

León, also in central Mexico, is the second destination to welcome Volaris services to Cancún this week. The airline’s representative posed for a picture with the first passengers. Volaris is set to further expand its domestic network this year.

  • Leading Mexican LCC Volaris has added three more routes to its growing domestic network. It has added twice-weekly flights between Cancun (CUN) and Aguascalientes (AGU), Cancun and León (BJX), and Guadalajara (GDL) and San Jose del Cabo (SJD). Last year, Volaris carried 4.6 million passengers on Mexican domestic flights giving it an 18% share of the market. According to Airbus, the airline currently operates a fleet of 24 A319s and 10 A320s with outstanding orders for an additional 58 A320s, including 30 A320neo.
