Vueling adds 12 new routes, including seven from Barcelona

Vueling’s new operations to Cardiff in Wales, which last week started with a Barcelona service that is to be followed by two further routes in June, were celebrated with this Vueling-style cake. Pictured are Vueling’s CEO Alex Cruz and Cardiff Airport’s Patrick Duffy, Managing Director, and Spencer Birns, Head of Commercial Operations and Air Services Development.

Strasbourg welcomed Vueling’s Barcelona route with this cake. Vueling’s expansion out of its main base in the last week has focused on the French market.

  • After launching 16 new routes last week, Vueling has introduced a further 12 new routes this week. From its main base in Barcelona (BCN), the airline has launched six new routes and resumed flying to Nice (NCE). While France is a major focus for growth with new routes to Lyon (LYS), Marseille (MRS) and Strasbourg (SXB), there are also two domestic routes to Almeria (LEI) and San Sebastian (EAS), and one to Cardiff (CWL) in Wales. The Barcelona – Cardiff route was served by bmibaby in the summer of 2008 and 2009. Vienna (VIE) gets its second Vueling service with the launch of three weekly flights to Paris Orly (ORY).
