Bahamasair, operated by Xtra Airways, now serves Baltimore/Washington from its new base in Freeport on Grand Bahama. BWI is one of four US destinations – all new to Bahamasair – to have a new connection with the Caribbean island.
- Bahamasair launched four routes to the US on 17 and 18 May as it set up a secondary base in Freeport (FPO) on Grand Bahama. The Bahamian flag carrier then launched each twice-weekly flights to Baltimore/Washington, MD (BWI), Louisville, KY (SDF), Raleigh-Durham, NC (RDU) and Richmond, VA (RIC) with 737-400s operated by Xtra Airways of the US. Notably, all four destinations are new to the airline, which has its main base in Nassau.
