VivaColombia expands its Medellín base with three new destinations; adds services to Cartagena from Cali
- On 1 June, Colombia’s youngest airline VivaColombia launched further three domestic routes from its Medellín (MDE) base. Services to Barranquilla (BAQ) and Cali (CLO) now depart with each weekly frequencies. Additionally, the airline now offers four weekly flights to Pereira (PEI) in the west of the country. Apart from increasing connectivity in the Antioquia region, of which Medellín is the capital, VivaColombia also commenced services from Colombia’s third-largest city, Cali, to Cartagena (CTG), a popular tourist destination on the Caribbean coast. Three out of these four routes are operated in competition with Avianca. Colombia’s largest airline serves the Cali to Cartagena market with five weekly services, and also provides 19 and 47 weekly flights respectively on the routes from Medellín to Barranquilla and Cali.
