Blue1 launches flights to Budapest and Bologna from Helsinki Airport
- Blue1, SAS’ Finnish subsidiary, launched three routes with its 115-seat 717s at the start of the month. On 1 June, the Star Alliance member further grew its network between its parent’s main base at the Danish capital Copenhagen (CPH) and Finland, launching four weekly flights to Lappeenranta (LPP) by the Russian border. From its main base in Helsinki (HEL), the airline launched two seasonal routes on 2 June, operating until 29 September. Budapest (BUD) in Hungary and Bologna (BLQ) in Italy will initially be served each once-weekly, but increasing to twice-weekly during July and the beginning of August. The airline has operated the Budapest route in the past, in 2007-08. “We are delighted to welcome Blue1 back to the market,” said Kam Jandu, Budapest Airport’s Aviation Director. “This is a great additional seasonal connection to Finland providing passengers travelling from Budapest with improved transit connections to destinations in Scandinavia and beyond.”
