TransAsia launches three new routes to Japan from Taipei in Taiwan
TransAsia Airways expanded its network out of Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) with three new Japanese routes in the last week. On 28 June, the Taiwanese airline became the sixth carrier on the route to Osaka Kansai (KIX), which it now serves with daily A321 operations. Competition comes from China Airlines’ 17 flights a week as well as twice-daily flights on JAL and Jetstar Asia and daily flights on Cathay Pacific and EVA Air. On 1 July, TransAsia took on China Airlines by launching daily flights to Okinawa (OKA). The daily flights compete with China Airlines’ twice-daily operations. TransAsia’s third route launched to Japan is uncontested. The airline now operates twice-weekly to Hakodate (HKD) in northern Japan.
