United Airlines launches new route from Tampa to Jacksonville
Silver Airways’ Saab 340, operating on behalf of United, was welcomed to Jacksonville after the first flight from Tampa. The intra-Florida route replaces Southwest’s operations.
- As Southwest dropped the intra-Florida route between Tampa (TPA) and Jacksonville (JAX), United Airlines took over the route the following day, on 13 August. Flights operate 19 times weekly – thrice-daily on weekdays and twice-daily on weekends – with Silver Airways’ Saab 340s. “This expansion to Jacksonville is right in line with our goals and objectives to be Florida’s hometown airline and connect the state like never before,” said Darrell Richardson, CEO of Silver Airways. “Jacksonville is our ninth station in Florida, with more on the way soon.”
