Alitalia returns to Zurich in Switzerland with services from Rome Fiumicino Airport

Cutting the Colosseum cake baked to celebrate Alitalia’s return to Zurich were Mario Testa, Alitalia’s GM Switzerland; Ermanno Schena, Alitalia’s Station Manager GVA; Peter Grünig, Zurich Airport’s Head of Aviation Marketing; the inaugural flight’s captain; Osvaldo Liparoti, Alitalia’s Station Manager ZRH; and Pierfrancesco Carino, Alitalia’s Country Manager Germany, Switzerland & Austria.

  • Alitalia relaunched flights from its hub at the Italian capital airport Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to the finance capital of Switzerland, Zurich (ZRH), on 29 October. The ‘old Alitalia’ previously operated the route until October 2008, and the ‘new Alitalia’ now returns with 12 weekly frequencies, all of which will be operated using 88-seat E-175s. Competition on the route comes from Swiss, which already serves the market with 28 weekly flights.
