Allegiant Air launches new winter sun routes to Florida and Phoenix, Arizona

  • Allegiant Air launched four new routes in the last week, each operating twice-weekly with the airline’s MD80 aircraft. Notably, all destinations are new to Allegiant’s network or have seen the airline return. Harrisburg, PA (MDT) got new services from two Florida airports; Orlando Sanford, FL (SFB) on 31 October and St Petersburg/Clearwater, FL (PIE) on 2 November. The Sanford route faces indirect competition at Orlando International from Frontier’s four weekly flights. On 1 November, Allegiant resumed the route from Orlando Sanford to Lansing, MI (LAN), capital of the state of Michigan, which it previously operated between 2005 and 2008. The same day, Allegiant also connected its Phoenix/Mesa, AZ (AZA) with Rochester, MN (RST), a distance of just over 2,000 kilometres.
