Norwegian expands with Gran Canaria base; now serves regional Nordic airports

Colourful cupcakes were offered to passengers travelling on Norwegian’s first flight from Gothenburg to Alicante. The ribbon for the new route was cut by the young passenger Alma Nyström-Larsson, who was assisted by Johan Zimmergren, Swedavia’s Route Development & Key Account Manager, and Norwegian’s captain Peter.

In Umeå in northern Sweden, passengers on Norwegian’s first flight to Gran Canaria celebrated the launch with Swedish pear cider and sweets.

  • Norwegian continued growing its network in the last week with the new Gran Canaria (LPA) base contributing with eight of the airline’s 14 new services. Five of the routes from the Canary Island are to Norwegian regional airports, while regional airports in Sweden, Denmark and Finland got one route each. In the case of Billund (BLL) in Denmark, the route is relaunched since Norwegian operated the route in 2010. It was also operated by Cimber Sterling prior to the airline’s demise.
