Tiger Airways Australia adds two routes to its Melbourne network

Lara Giddings, Premier of Tasmania (pictured right), welcomed the return of services from Tiger Airways to Hobart: “These additional services will help us take advantage of Tasmania’s growing reputation as a must-see tourist destination, with Hobart recently named in Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities to visit in 2013.” The airline last served Hobart in July 2011.

  • Tiger Airways Australia increased its presence in Melbourne (MEL) with twice-daily services each to Adelaide (ADL) in South Australia and the Tasman city of Hobart (HBA). Both services will be operated using the airline’s fleet of A320s, as the airline brings the number of routes offered from Melbourne to seven. Competition on the new routes comes from Qantas (which offers 71 and 21 weekly flights respectively), Virgin Australia (64 and 37), and Jetstar (18 and 38).
