United Airlines sets up new routes in Chicago, Denver and Washington
- United Airlines added a total of five routes on 4 November; two each from Chicago O’Hare, IL (ORD) and Denver, CO (DEN), as well as the Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL) service from Washington Dulles, VA (IAD), which the airline last operated in 2008. Daily flights from Chicago O’Hare to Sarasota, FL (SRQ) return to United’s schedule after 17 years. Notably, the announcement came shortly after AirTran decided to pull out of the Sarasota market, dropping its Chicago Midway route in August this year. For more information, see anna.aero’s interview with Sarasota Bradenton International Airport’s Director Development & Community Relations, Michael Walley, at World Routes in Abu Dhabi. United will see competition on only one of the five new routes.
