Alitalia adds six international destinations to its Rome Fiumicino network

Accompanied by Alitalia’s Monica Garau and Emanuela Carillo, is Gianni Leone, Alitalia’s Country Manager UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and Baltics; and Matthew Hall, London City Airport’s CCO. A mini art exhibition was organised in the airport’s terminal to mark the launch of the new route.

  • Alitalia used the shift of seasons to expand its international offering from its Rome Fiumicino (FCO) hub. Notably, Ekaterinburg (SVX), the fourth-largest city in Russia, located on the border of Europe and Asia in the Urals, became Alitalia’s third Russian destination after Moscow Sheremetyevo (17 weekly flights) and St. Petersburg (4). The twice-weekly schedule to Copenhagen (CPH) presents the Italian carrier with the most competition, as three other carriers already operate a combined 29 weekly flights. In addition, the carrier inaugurated six-weekly flights to London City (LCY), which it operates using 100-seat E190s.
