British Airways launches four Spanish routes from London Gatwick and Heathrow airports

  • British Airways, following the launch of flights to Barcelona in late February, continued to expand its offering to Spain from London Gatwick (LGW) last week, as it inaugurated services to three destinations on 31 March. The carrier now offers 17 weekly departures to Alicante (ALC), five weekly to Tenerife Sur (TFS) and twice-weekly to Lanzarote (ACE). In addition, the airline also started daily flights on the 1,300-kilometre route from London Heathrow (LHR) to Palma de Mallorca (PMI). Competition on all of the Gatwick routes is intense, with easyJet, Monarch and Thomson Airways all providing direct competition on each route. Vueling provides competition on the Heathrow – Palma service.
