easyJet launches second route to Moscow; adds further eight routes across Europe

anna.aero’s Editor, Marc Watkins; and Ruth Spratt, Head of Sales UK, posed for a commemorative picture with the inaugural cake baked by the wife of anna.aero’s Publisher, Paul Hogan. Spratt then said: “Around 30% of sales on the route come from Russia and the route has exceeded our expectations in that respect.”

easyJet's inaugural service from Berlin Schonefeld to Sofia was greeted with the traditional water salute. The crew then received commemorative goodie bags presented by Kristian Krastev, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of Bulgaria. The ceremony was attended by Veselin Peykov, Sofia Airport's Executive Director; and Peter Voets, easyJet's Marketing Manager.

Basel Euroairport’s Ingrid Sturzenegger, Manager Business Development, celebrated the launch of new easyJet routes together with the airline’s ground team.

  • easyJet added a total of nine new services across its network in the course of last week. One destination each was launched from Basel (BSL), Berlin Schönefeld (SXF), Lisbon (LIS), Milan Malpensa (MXP), Newcastle (NCL) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO), while three services were inaugurated in Manchester (MAN). Notably, the northern British city is now connected with Moscow Domodedovo (DME), bringing the total of easyJet’s Russian routes up to two. anna.aero assisted the launches of both Moscow routes, including an extensive coverage of last week’s London Gatwick to Moscow launch.
