American Airlines launches second route to Lima; adds two routes from Miami and one each from Los Angeles and New York JFK

With a little help from a young passenger, American Airlines' inaugural service from Raleigh/Durham, NC, to Los Angeles, CA, was dispatched.

Assisted by Jeff Fegan, DFW Airport’s CEO, Harold Forsyth, the Peruvian Ambassador to the US, cut the inaugural ribbon to mark the return of American Airlines on the route from Dallas/Fort Worth to Lima.

  • American Airlines launched two domestic routes last week, one each from Los Angeles, CA (LAX) and New York JFK, NY (JFK), as well as expanded its offering to the Caribbean from the Miami, FL (MIA) hub. From Miami, the airline now offers low-frequency flights to both Pointe-a-Pitre (PTP) in Guadeloupe and Fort-de-France (FDF) in Martinique. In addition, the airline also returned on the 5,400-kilometre route from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (DFW) to Lima (LIM) on 1 April. The carrier, which last served this route in February 2006, also offers twice-daily schedule to the Peruvian capital from Miami. Chuck Schubert, American’s VP Network Planning, said: “Peru’s economy continues to expand and we’ve seen increased travel demand to that market, as well as throughout Latin America. This route plays a vital role in our international network strategy by offering seamless, one-stop connections to major domestic and international destinations through Dallas/Fort Worth – including customers traveling between Latin America and Asia.”
