Norwegian adds 19 new routes; builds up London Gatwick base
Cutting the inaugural cake for Norwegian’s arrival in Liverpool were Matt Thomas, the airport’s CEO; Daniel Kirchhoff, Norwegian’s Communication Officer; and Jan Mølby, former Danish international and Liverpool FC midfielder.
The traditional water arch, a cocktail of Spanish wine and shopping discounts awaited passengers travelling on Norwegian’s inaugural flight to Madrid. A special cake with Norwegian’s aircraft was then served. Performing the cake-cutting ceremony were the captain on the maiden flight and Madrid Airport’s new Director, Elena Mayoral.
- Norwegian, the world’s #2 airline for new route launches this summer season, according to the recent anna.aero analysis, launched a total of 19 routes last week – more than half of all the 33 new services the airline will have added between 26 March and 15 April. The Nordic carrier continued to build up its latest base at London Gatwick (LGW), where it inaugurated nine low-frequency routes, mostly to southern European destinations.
