  • SAS celebrated the start of the summer season with the launch of three new routes. On 4 and 5 April respectively, the airline added twice-weekly services each from Helsinki (HEL) to both Prague (PRG) and Paris CDG (CDG). Flights are operated using 717s from the airline’s subsidiary, Blue1. Finnair competes in both markets, as it offers twice-daily flights to Prague and 35 weekly to the Paris airport. In addition, Norwegian provides low-frequency weekly flights on the route to the Czech capital. However, last week’s highlight for SAS was the inauguration of non-stop services from its Copenhagen (CPH) hub to San Francisco, CA (SFO). Six weekly flights are offered on the 8,800-kilometre route and the route is operated using A340-300s. The carrier already serves three destinations in the US – New York Newark (10 weekly), Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles (each daily).
