- Virgin America launched its operation in New York Newark, NY (EWR) on 2 April, with the start of services from both Los Angeles, CA (LAX) and San Francisco, CA (SFO). Thrice-daily frequencies are now offered on each route in competition with United Airlines (79 and 88 weekly flights respectively).
