Wizz Air adds third route to Debrecen; launches first route from EU to Kutaisi

Wizz Air’s Daniel De Carvalho; and Kate Aleksidze, Director of United Airports Georgia, cut the celebratory ribbon to mark the launch of the airline’s new service from Warsaw to Kutaisi.

  • Wizz Air, which only inaugurated its presence at Debrecen (DEB) in Hungary less than a year ago, launched its third route to the city last week. Beginning on 23 April, the carrier operates a twice-weekly schedule on the 1,100-kilometre route from Dortmund (DTM). Other destinations offered by Wizz Air from Debrecen are London Luton (the carrier’s first destination from the city, now served with five weekly flights), and Eindhoven, offered with twice-weekly frequencies. All flights are carried out with the airline’s fleet of A320s. In addition, on 28 April, the carrier inaugurated the first route from Kutaisi (KUT) to the European Union, as it connected the western Georgian city and Warsaw (WAW) with twice-weekly services. Speaking during the launch event, Daniel De Carvalho, Wizz Air’s Communications Director, said: “This new service allows us to propel our “Go East” network strategy. Georgia has outstanding potential.”
