Garuda Indonesia inaugurates two domestic routes
- Garuda Indonesia increased its domestic offering last week, as it launched two routes involving Pekanbaru (PKU) in Sumatra on 1 May. The carrier now offers daily services to this busy trading port from Batam (BTH) and Medan (MES) using CRJ1000 equipment on both routes. Competition on the 300-kilometre route to Batam, the free trade zone located 20 kilometres off Singapore’s south coast, comes from Wings Abadi (36 weekly flights), Citilink Indonesia (7) and Sriwijaya Air (7). Services on the route from Medan face competition from Lion Air (14), Indonesia AirAsia (7), Mandala Airlines (7) and Sriwijaya Air (7).
