United Airlines’ Edmonton to New York Newark
Serving bagels to passengers departing on United’s inaugural flight to Newark were Reg Milley, Edmonton Airport’s CEO; John Whaley, Mayor of Leduc County; Richard Starke, Alberta Tourism Minister; Greg Krischke, Mayor of the City of Leduc; and Brad Ferguson, CEO of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation.
- United Airlines added New York Newark, NJ (EWR) as the fifth US airport it connects with Canadian Edmonton (YEG) on 1 May. Six weekly departures are offered on the 3,300-kilometre route and operated using A319s. Reg Milley, the airport’s CEO, commented: “Last year alone, about 44,000 people from this region travelled to New York to enjoy New York so we know there’s a good market there.”
