Jet2.com inaugurates Lanzarote base; Qatar Airways’ 787 returns to Heathrow; Ryanair hits downtown Manchester with low fares

Jet2.com and Lanzarote Airport celebrated the launch of the airline’s new base on the island. Jet2.com has announced that it will increase its seat offer and launch on 29 May the new route Blackpool-Lanzarote, operated initially with twice-weekly B737 frequencies. Attending the event in the airport’s Aeronautical Museum were: Angela Navarro, Lanzarote Airport’s Director; Pedro San Ginés, President of the Island Government; Ian Doubtfire, Jet2.com’s MD; Juan Prats, Director Insular de Lanzarote; Pedro Lara, Contract Manager for the Canaries Jet2holidays; Jose Juan Lorenzo, Consejero de los Centros Turísticos; Janice Mather, Jet2.com’s GM Airports and Tourism Organizations; Marcus Weilald, Director Regional MTS Travel Agency; Denisse Freytas, Jet2holidays’ Contract Manager; Marisol Hernández, Station Manager for the Canaries, Jet2.com/Jet2holidays; Luis Arráez, Consejero de Turismo y Hacienda; and Héctor Fernández, Consejero del Patronato de Turismo.

Ryanair’s ‘bargain bus’ was spotted in Manchester last week, as the carrier urged the passengers in the North West UK city to see the sights of Europe, while taking advantage of one of its 32 routes from the local airport.

Qatar Airways resumed 787 services between Doha and London Heathrow after a worldwide grounding of the aircraft in January.
