Silver Airways adds second route from Jacksonville

Silver Air launched weekly international flights from Jacksonville in Florida to Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas last week, and celebrated the event with a colourful cake, and a traditional water cannon salute.

  • Silver Airways commenced operations on the 630-kilometre route from Jacksonville, FL (JAX) to Marsh Harbour (MHH) in the Bahamas on 15 June. The carrier, which already operates 17 weekly frequencies from Jacksonville to Tampa, carries out weekly flights on the newly launched route. Saab 340s are deployed to operate the service. Dave Pflieger, president and CEO of Silver Airways, said: “As Florida’s hometown airline and the largest US carrier to the Bahamas, we’re pleased to create a direct link to the incredible vacation product in Marsh Harbour for the travelling public in Jacksonville and its surrounding communities”. Silver Airways has operated in Jacksonville since August 2012 under a codeshare with United Airlines, offering a direct flight to Tampa with 34-seat Saab 340s. But since 8 June Silver has been operating under its own reservation system as an independent airline.
