Hong Kong Airlines introduced daily flights on 20 September between Hong Kong (HKG) and Chiang Mai (CNX) in Thailand. A320s will be operated on the 1,630-kilometre route, which is already served five times weekly by Cathay Pacific Airways subsidiary Dragonair. From the beginning of the winter season, Hong Kong Airlines will transfer this route to sister airline Hong Kong Express, which is being rebranded as the first Hong Kong-based low-fare airline, and will be serving five destinations initially, with Osaka and Tokyo flights being added in early November.
