British Airways unites London Heathrow and Gran Canaria

British Airways’ inaugural from London Heathrow arriving at Gran Canaria Airport.

British Airways’ inaugural from London Heathrow arrived at Gran Canaria Airport where it was received by a traditional fire truck water arch.

  • British Airways introduced direct weekly flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Gran Canaria (LPA), utilising its 162-seat A320s. The new winter sun route will be served weekly (Saturdays) on the 2,898-kilometre sector until 29 March 2014. While there is no direct competition linking Heathrow to the third-largest of the Canary Islands, easyJet flies five times weekly, as well as Norwegian also offering a four times weekly service, both from London Gatwick; Ryanair operates flights to Gran Canaria from London Luton (twice-weekly) and London Stansted (six); Thomas Cook flies from London Stansted (one) and London Gatwick (two); while Thomson Airways operates from the same London airports with weekly and four times weekly services respectively. See how Aena’s latest FTWA offering does against its global peers.
