Afriqiyah Airways reinstates its Paris CDG service
- Afriqiyah Airways resumed operations on the 2,000-kilometre route from its base in Tripoli (TIP) to Paris CDG (CDG), a route it last served in July 2011. Beginning on 31 October, the Libyan carrier offers thrice-weekly flights on the route, which it serves using an A319 wet-leased from Tunis Air, pending the lifting of the EU flight ban that still prevents Afriqiyah, and fellow state-owned airline Libyan Airlines, from flying their own aircraft in EU airspace. In the future, the route is likely to be operated by one of Afriqiyah’s own A320s. In Europe, the airline also serves Istanbul Atatürk, London Gatwick (four times weekly flights), Düsseldorf and Rome Fiumicino (thrice-weekly).
