Thomson Airways adds new Alicante route from Edinburgh Airport

  • Thomson Airways inaugurated weekly services (Tuesdays) from Edinburgh (EDI) to Alicante  (ALC) on 5 November. The route becomes the carrier’s third direct connection from Scotland’s busiest airport to Spain and its 10th link to Alicante from the UK. Utilising 737-800s, the 1,980-kilometre sector is flown in competition with easyJet, Jet2.com and Ryanair, who each operate the route twice-weekly. The seasonal route is set to cease operations on 29 April 2014.

Thomson reacting to the loco’s who provide flights from Edinburgh that Thomson previously
expected central belt Scots to surface travel to their Glasgow base for. I don’t think we have seen the last of retaliatory action from Thomson on their previous Edinburgh omissions.
