Avianca adds domestic route, and new link to Miami
Avianca has launched a new domestic route on 15 November between Bogota (BOG) and Leticia (LET), in the south-east corner of the Colombia. The airline will serve the 1,090-kilometre sector with daily A318 flights, and will be competing head-to-head with Copa Airlines Colombia and LAN Colombia, who also both operate daily flights. In addition, on 16 November, Avianca took over from LACSA as the operator between San Jose (SJO) in Costa Rica, and Miami, FL (MIA). The 1,800-kilometre route will be served daily by the airline’s A319s (replacing LACSA’s smaller E190s) and will face competition from American Airlines, who currently operate 24 weekly flights.
