Transaero Airlines starts new Cuba and France links from Moscow

  • Transaero Airlines, which operates from all three main Moscow airports, has continued to develop its network at its two biggest hubs — namely at Moscow Vnukovo (VKO) with a new service to Lyon (LYS), whereas across town at Moscow Domodedovo (DME) it has added a further long-haul service to Havana (HAV). The daily Lyon service, which began on 28 December and is operated by a mix of the airline’s 767-300 and 737-800 aircraft, becomes destination #62 from Vnukovo. The route operates daily until 11 January when it changes to a weekly service (Saturdays), which then terminates on 29 March. On Moscow to Lyon, Transaero is also operating a daily charter from Domodedovo between 28 December and 11 January. Slightly less complicated is the weekly seasonal Havana route (Saturdays), which started on the same day (28 December) and is operated by Transaero’s 767-300s and is airport #65 on Domodedovo’s network. The route is also scheduled to stop operating on 29 March. While there is no direct competition on the Domodedovo to Havana airport pair, Aeroflot offers the same city pair from its Sheremetyevo hub, with a five times weekly A330-200 service.
