- Cathay Pacific Airways expanded its international offering with a new service from its Hong Kong (HKG) base to Doha (DOH) on 30 March. The 6,334-kilometre sector will be operated daily, utilising the airline’s 260-seat A330-300s. This route comes with the announcement of a new reciprocal codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, which is already serving the airport pair with daily services. Except the two mentioned, no other carrier operates this route. Commenting on the route launch, Abdulaziz al-Mass, Aenior Manager Public Relations and Communications, Doha Airport, said: “We celebrated Cathay Pacific’s debut in Qatar with a water cannon salute and look forward to welcoming its passengers at Doha Airport. The start of Cathay Pacific’s services to Doha underlines Qatar’s ever-growing importance as an international transport hub and opens onward travel options for passengers to Asia and beyond. As we continue to announce year-on-year growth at the airport, this partnership is testament to our commitment to delivering a variety of travel options for all our passengers, as well as a seamless and hassle-free experience.”
