On 20 June, Halifax Airport’s fire crew celebrated the launch of Canadian North’s weekly flights to Iqaluit with the traditional water arch salute.
- Canadian North introduced three domestic seasonal services on 20 June, all of which will be operated weekly (Fridays), utilising the airline’s 128-seat 737-300s. Firstly, it inaugurated the 2,124-kilometre sector from Halifax (YHZ) to Iqaluit (YFB), followed by flights on the 884-kilometre route from St. John’s (YYT) to Halifax (YHZ). Lastly the carrier launched operations from St. John’s (YYT) to Iqaluit (YFB) via Halifax (YHZ). Canadian North will face direct competition only on the St. John’s-Halifax airport pair from Air Canada (42), Porter Airlines (18) and WestJet (14). See how Iqaluit Airport’s fire truck water arch compares to others from around the world.
