- Avianca resumed operations from Bogota (BOG) to London Heathrow (LHR) on 3 July, following a 13-year hiatus. The 8,473-kilometre sector to London’s busiest airport will be served four times weekly, utilising the Star Alliance member’s 252-seat A330-200s. There is no competition on the new airport pair. Furthermore, Avianca is already operating to Europe with twice-daily flights to Madrid and four weekly services to Barcelona. Commenting on the route launch, Rodrigo Llaguno, VP of Client Experience, Avianca, said: “This transatlantic flight is an opportunity for business travellers and tourists to get to know Avianca’s quality service. It’s a challenge we’ve been preparing for and we’ve provided new resources throughout the complete customer service cycle. We hope that travellers enjoy every single detail of our service as much as we’ve enjoyed implementing the required operational and service tasks.” See how London Heathrow Airport’s fire truck water arch compares to others from around the world.
