Air Arabia connects Chittagong with Ras Al Khaimah base

  • Air Arabia has strengthened its presence at Ras Al Khaimah (RKT) on 2 September following the introduction of thrice-weekly services from Chittagong (CGP) in Bangladesh. The coastal city is Bangladesh’s second largest, with a population of over 6.5 million, and becomes the 98th destination serviced by the airline and its second in Bangladesh; the airline currently runs 14 weekly flights to Dhaka, the nation’s capital city, every week from its main base in Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. The 3,661-kilometre sector, its eighth from Ras Al Khaimah, will be flown by the LCC’s A320s, with no direct competition. The service will actually operate from Chittagong into Ras Al Khaimah on the inside of a W-pattern from Sharjah. Adel Ali, Group CEO, Air Arabia, said: “Air Arabia is delighted to announce the introduction of our new service between Ras Al Khaimah and Chittagong. We have a strong association with Bangladesh having run flights to the country since 2007. As we close in on our 100th destination worldwide, it is fitting that we are strengthening our connectivity with a market that possesses such strong growth potential for both tourism and business.”
