- firefly, the regional subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, has added two new routes during the last week. On 11 September it launched thrice-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays) flights on the 332-kilometre route from Penang (PEN) to Krabi (KBV) in Thailand, followed on the 15 September by four-times weekly flights on the 433-kilometre route from Johor Bahru (JHB) to Ipoh (IPH). Both routes will be operated by the airline’s ATR 72-600s. Competition comes only on the Penang-Krabi route which Malindo Air is also starting this week.
